Choosing The Business That Is Right For You

When I started to think about setting up my business, I set my sights high.

The business, I decided, had to have eight key features. If the business didn’t have most of these key features, I rejected it.

I decided that my new business had to -

1. Be simple to operate and cost less than $250 to set up.

2. Maintain or enhance my current lifestyle.

3. Allow me the freedom to work from home in my spare time.

4. Create a growing, passive income that I could retire on within a few years (after all, I am 58 and don't want to work forever).

5. Allow me to travel extensively and increase my social contacts.

6. Give me more holidays and family time.

7. Be something that was of interest to everyone.

8. Be something that I felt “good” about.

I also liked the idea of working at my computer so that I could run my business from almost anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night.

Choices

The choices I had were –

• Consultancy

• Author

• Webmaster

• EBay Seller

• Sales Agent

• Affiliate Sales

I chose online sales. But, what product to sell? Books, health products, self improvement courses, weight loss programs, CDs, DVDs?

Apart from building this hobby website and two others, which are all now beginning to evolve into potentially lucrative future income streams, I could only find one thing that fitted all of the parameters I had set for myself.......TRAVEL.
