DIY Websites

Do It Yourself or DIY Websites are for those who wish to –

1. Promote an existing business;

2. Start an online business;

3. Set up a Hobby Site;

4. Run a Membership Site; or

5. Maintain an Information Site.

For most of us who are over the age of 50, we are relative novices at this computer thing and we wouldn’t know where to start to build a DIY website. My first few attempts were hopeless. I had no idea what I was doing. I did not understand what this HTML thing was and as for gifs and blogs....well, leave me out of that. But....I blundered on and had a bit of fun with my first few DIY websites.

A year or two later, when I started to seriously start to think about retirement I wondered what I was going to do to keep me occupied. Although I like to run, walk, swim and travel I realized that I would need a Hobby, especially when the weather wasn’t ideal. Never one to be good with my hands, I was not going to potter around in the garage or win awards for my gardening or cooking skills. I don’t watch a lot of TV and I can’t repair a broken chair. My days of playing football and coaching sporting teams are over.

What I can do, though, is to talk about my life, my interests and my lifestyle. The things that I know something about, I can talk about with confidence and passion....and I can inform others with similar interests and passions to mine. I can talk about health and fitness for over 50s, running and walking for seniors, baby boomers travel and my new interest in computers and online marketing.

I can also talk about the emerging online generation of Silver Surfers who are looking to communicate with family, friends and new acquaintances from around the world via their laptops and PCs. Oldies music (60s and 70s)....I know lots about that. Jokes and Quotes about my Generation...I know some of them. Although I can only give 5-8 hours a week to my DIY website while I'm still working full time,I am happy with the progress. This is a long term project so there is no need for me to hurry.

Life Beyond 50 is essentially an information site but to me it’s much more than that. It’s rapidly becoming a part time business and looks likely to provide me with a nice supplementary, passive retirement income. This is all because I was lucky enough to find Site Build It (SBI) a couple of years ago.

SBI is not just a Domain Hosting company. It is also not just an online marketing company. Site Build It is more of a University or College Marketing Course which teaches you how to select your perfect Site Niche, how to build your ideal Information or Hobby site, how to get free traffic and how to earn money from your site.

In effect, Site Build It taught me how to have fun by writing about what I know and love. I now have a hobby to take me into retirement and....who knows? Maybe I might make a dollar or two along the way.

SBI also provides it's site owners with ongoing training and other SBI site owners are always willing to assist in a supportive Members Forum. SBI has a real community “feel” about it.

If you are interested in building your own DIY Websites with SBI just click here to hear what other people are saying about Site Build It. Building your own website is a rewarding experience.....especially when you are writing about something you enjoy.

So.....what will you write about?
